Cloth wipes and wipe solution

What goes along with cloth diapers? Cloth wipes of course. When I first heard about cloth wipe I honestly thought it was a little gross. I don't know why I thought wipes were gross but not the diapers but after doing a little reading and thinking about it, it just makes sense to use cloth wipes along with cloth diapering. After all, what do you do with a wipe when you're done with it? Stick it in the diaper and if you stick a disposable wipe in with your cloth diapers and wash them, you're going to have a lovely mess when you open the washer.

I had more than enough receiving blankets so I decided to cut a few of them into wipes and zig zag stitched the edges.

Along with my cloth wipes I made wipe solution. I followed the Lavender and Tea Tree recipe and it smells wonderful! I folded the wipes so they pop up just like disposables wipes from the wipe warmer.

Fold the first wipe in half
Lay a second wipe inside and lay the first one closed. Now put another wipe inside and repeat with each subsequent wipe so that the wipes will pull out one after the other. Sorry for the terrible directions hope this makes sense!

1/8 cup olive oil (sometimes I use baby oil)
1 tablespoon baby shampoo
4 drops tea tree oil
8 drops lavender oil
3 cups water

Meet your Butcher

I used to regularly buy pork loin on sale for $1.99 before I was pregnant and cut the meat into portions. While pregnant many foods, especially meats made me gag and pork was a no go. I've eaten pork several times since Laura was born and love it once again. It's frugal, lean and simple to cook.

Pork loin (not tenderloin) is on sale this week at Kroger for $1.99, a great price for boneless meat. I used to spend 20 minutes or more at home butchering the meat into chops myself, which I find repulsive but know it saves about 50% off the price of boneless pork chops. However, I had recently learned that the butcher in the meat department will cut up any cut of meat for you! Who knew?

So today I asked my kind butcher (he's marked meat down for me before too) to cut a 6 pound hunk of pork loin into chops for me. Not only did he do this but he packaged them two to a package. All I had to do when I got home was stick them in a freezer bag. Lesson learned, it never hurts to ask!

My two L's

I have lots of silly names for Lilly and Laura but I often called them Big L and Little L. Here they are playing together in the living room. Lilly is very sweet with her but sometimes her tail whacks Laura in the face and she is obsessed with licking up Laura's spit up. There's plenty of it to go around but I have to make sure she's not licking the spit up off Laura's face! A few more months and Lilly will be running away from Laura.

Laura has rolled over about half a dozen times and she did it right before I shot this video. I was hoping she'd do it again for me

Laura 3 Months

Laura's three month birthday snuck up on me in the midst of David's birthday and my Mom's visit from Texas. She's getting bigger everyday and I'm finally starting to see her as no longer a newborn but a fun little baby who loves to smile, chew on her fists and spit up. Lilly is on spit up patrol and has even coming running into the room after hearing Laura spit up. Believe me, you can hear it hit the hardwood floor from across the house.

 Loves the Bumbo (mostly)

Couldn't quite get a smile out of her

A peak into our week

David had the honor and privilege to commission his brother John into the Air Force last weekend. David sold his soul (or at least four years of it) to the Army to pay for dental school and now John will be in the same program with the Air Force.

After spending Friday and Saturday with David's parents we made a three hour drive to North Georgia. I was a bit totally stressed out that it was going to be miserable drive but thankfully Laura slept nearly the entire drive there and the four hour drive home! She got to meet her Great Grandparents and her Great Aunt for the first time.
